Textbook

Horizons by Michael Seeds, 6th edition, available at Textbook Annex on Campus. There is a newer edition that was just printed. The change is small, however, compared to the 6th edition. There would not be any used copies available for this semester. So we will continue to use the 6th edition.

Former Astronomy 100 students have chosen this textbook as one of the most readable of the variety of introductory textbooks on the market. In addition, the order of the chapters closely follows a sequence which develops the underlying theme of the course -- namely learning what and how we know about  the universe. 

The textbook (ISBN# 0-534-57258-8) is accompanied with the free software TheSky, which will be used in class.
