October 5th, 2003... I finally made my first step to the southern hemisphere.
We (Jacqueline, Martin, Baerbel and I) got 12 hours of observing time
at Narrabri site (ATCA) to investigate a pair of galaxy. One of two galaxies seems to possess
a gas disk rotating in an opposite direction with respect to its stellar disk. As it has been
suggested, it might have something to do with accreted material from the companion and we wanted
to obtain HI map of this galaxy and another galaxy sitting close at similar velocity range.
And we've got some COOL detection:
gas is
interacting between two galaxies. Besides observing at Narrabri, I went Melbourne and
Sydney for sightseeing, and also I collaborated with Baerbel Koribalski at CSIRO/ATNF
(Epping/Marsfield).
