Hugh Crowl is a Five College Astronomy Department Research and Education Postdoctoral Fellow based at the University of Massachusetts and Hampshire College. The FCAD Fellow program combines independent research with the development and implementation of an innovative educational initiative.

My research focuses on the evolution of galaxies and the effect of environment. Specifically, I am interested in what observations of the nearby Virgo Cluster can tell us about the formation and evolution of galaxies at higher redshift. You can get more information by going to my research page (linked on the left).

My teaching currently is focused on developing a course at Hampshire entitled Bringing Astronomy Down to Earth, which focuses on how to best communicate Astronomy to the general public using electronic media. More information can be found on my Teaching page.
