God I Saw One of Your Creations Today

(This is one of many poems I wrote during the summer I worked at Philmont. I wrote this in response to my climbing Trail Peak after a long day of backpacking. I hiked alone all day and felt closer to God than I have ever felt in my lifetime.)

God I saw one of your creations today.
It made me stop and think.
The power your creation has over me is amazing.
Tell me Lord, how do you do it?
How can you create something that makes me stop?
To take a picture, no one would understand.
To create a painting, it would be make believe.
Only through the heart can I express your power,
Your love, your hope, and your promise.
