UMass Baysian Inference Engine

bie_logo.gif

The UMass Bayesian Inference Engine (BIE) is a research product of the Astronomy and Computer Science Departments of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. It is a result of the UMass Galaxy project led by Martin Weinberg.

The project has two primary goals:

  • to produce the BIE as a broadly useful tool
  • to demonstrate the BIE's utility by applying it to infer the structure of the Milky Way galaxy from 2MASS and other datasets.

The current version of the code is available for your use but it is still in a "beta" form. Please email WEINBERG at ASTRO dot UMASS dot EDU to request a tar ball.

This project was supported in part by the NASA Advanced Information Systems Research Program (AISRP).
