The H&alpha and R-band images are available in 2 different directories as fits files.
The images have been processed as described in Young at al. (1996), and are
flat-fielded, sky-subtracted, continuum-subtracted (for the H&alpha), and
flux-calibrated. In addition, bright stars have been removed from the R-band
images, incompletely-subtracted stars have been removed from the H&alpha
images, and cosmic rays have been removed from both types of images. In some cases
the images have been cropped, generally to remove artifacts of one of the
CCD cameras, or to exclude unusually bright foreground stars.
The fits files represent the flux-calibrated images, and the flux value at each pixel must be multiplied by 10^-18 to obtain the units of erg/cm^2/sec.
For specifics regarding the pixel size, calibration stars, and H&alpha filters used, see our paper "The Global Rate and Efficiency of Star Formation in Spiral Galaxies as a Function of Morphology and Environment," Young, J.S., Allen, L., Kenney, J. Lesser, A., and Rownd, B., Astron. J., 112, 1903-1927, (1996).
