LETTERS FROM THE PUBLIC

Dear Judy,

I had a wonderful time yesterday morning at the sunrise. It was great to meet you and find another person like me who loves stones and stars. I look forward to future meetings and discussions.

        Happy Holidays and New Year!

Hi Judy,

Thanks for spending time with us on Wednesday. The day was absolutely wonderful. I had a parent stop by my house yesterday and comment on how much her daughter got out of the Sunwheel visit.

You have a great way of reaching young audiences.

Best of luck to you, and thanks --

Hello,
Wonderful article on the Moon teachings. :))

As the 19 April 2006 Southern Extreme looms, I will be putting an entry to your page on my non-technical moon-oriented site. My BS is Physics, but these days I lean more towards the more esoteric teachings of the moon and am always delighted to find articles such as yours, which opens a friendly door to science. I saw one of your goals was to have a Sunwheel in every community. What a wonderful idea, one I hope you're seeing progress with.

        Best regards,
          Ana Maria Gallo

Dear Judy,
Mazel Tov!
It is so exciting to see the Sunwheel come to life. Keep going.

            Warmest wishes,

Dear Judie,
On behalf of my fellow Rotarians I would like to thank you for your excellent presentation on last Thursday the 28th. I heard nothing but praise for you from the numerous members with whom I spoke after the meeting. Needless to say you have sparked much interest in your project and we all eagerly await the installation of the new rocks. With all good wishes,

            Yours sincerely,

              Arthur Quinton

Dear Judy:
Congratulations on your NSF grant! I saw the article in the Campus Chronicle and I wanted to drop you a note to tell you that I appreciate your commitment to your work and to the University. This kind of recognition reminds everyone that UMass is a world-class institution with the finest faculty and staff anywhere. We are truly fortunate to have you as a member of the UMass family.

Once again, congratulations. I hope you enjoy your well-deserved award.

            Sincerely,

Dear Professor Young,
Congratulations on your recent award from the National Science Foundation. I know you have been working diligently to use the Sunwheel to advance science education. The grant should make your work easier.

Dear Prof. Young,
It was by chance upon going for a walk on 21 June that my girlfriend and I discovered the summer solstice program and lecture. It was a wonderful discovery and learning experience. It recalled things learnt so long ago in science class. Many years ago. So a wonderful reminder.

Congratulations on this project. Your dedication and enthusiasm to making a dream a reality with less than full cooperation from UMass for several years is for me a great encouragement and inspiration. Good luck with all your future plans.

            Best regards,

Dear Judith,
I attended the solstice sunset last night with my two children, and we all had a great time and learned a lot. I want to thank you for making all of this possible, both for your delightful presentation and your persistent efforts in constructing the Sunwheel. At the time I had no cash to donate, but here's a small contribution to further your efforts. I hope to see you again... at the equinox?

Dear Judy,
Now I know, just a little, how those ancient fellows must have felt when they visited Stonehenge. It's not that one doesn't know that the sun wanders about the horizon, it's that someone has captured the specifics of a precise time and place: a marvel. It is a marvel for those old Britons, and it is a marvel for you.

You inspired me to dig up this old piece I wrote back in the 60's in Africa, and get it back into form to share. You'll see that it has scads that can be lifted and used locally in Massachusetts, which you are absolutely invited to do. I also add stuff about two very useful & interesting sky calendars.

Judy, we had a wonderful time - all three of us, and we thank all three of you. I'll never forget how the curtain drew back at the crucial moment! On top of all that, we got to be in touch with you.

            love,

the Phils (Phillip and Phylis Morrison)
