The 2019 Dannie Heineman Prize was awarded to PhD Alumn Ted Bergin by the American Astronomical Society and the American Institute of Physics.
The Dannie Heineman Prize is given jointly by the American Astronomical Society and the American Institute of Physics yearly. For 2019 the prize goes to EDWIN (TED) BERGIN (University of Michigan) for his pioneering work in astrochemistry and innovative contributions to our understanding of the physics and chemistry of star and planet formation, and for his tireless efforts to improve diversity and inclusion in astronomy. Ted Bergin is a UMass Alumnus; he obtained his PhD in Astronomy here in 1995.
